Auditions, ha.

Hello followers!
I unfortunately have bad news. I was not able to attend auditions this past weekend. The audition I was supposed to attend was in Atlanta and it was on the 20th. The program has been nothing but a never ending battle with the parents (and still is) so I wasn't able to go, they said gas is too expensive to travel 6 hours. BUT, since I have talked to many of programers the past few months I have gotten the basics on auditions so I will go through them for anyone doing a future program and is looking at my blog for advice and what an audition entails.
The Atlanta audition had around 250 people. It was a large audition and they were all CPers.
First, you get a number, your Disney height is taken, and they take your picture.
Then, the audition is split into two parts, the animation portion and dance portion.
The animation portion is where they give you something to act out. It can range in variety, I have heard different scenarios such as: meeting a character, washing a dog, and planting a garden. The only piece of advice I can offer is to make your moves big and full of life and "character"!
I don't really know much about the dance portion other than you are split up into groups and the dance routine gets harder and harder.

In other news, I should have a vlog up soon. I shall post it here when I do. 151 days until check in! :)

Hope you all have a magical day!

Weekly Update !

Alrighty, so since there isn't much to blog about as often as I was a few months ago, I have decided to do a weekly update. There isn't much to update, 163 days until check in. I'm still battling my parents, which has gone to a whole new level.

I never thought that it would be THAT much of deal doing the program. My parents are really cool and easy-going, or so I thought. It has gotten really bad since my last post. My mom said that if I do the program then I'm getting kicked out of the house.. It's a whole new dilemma pretty much. I just wish they understood how badly I want to do the program but I doubt they ever will.. they just see me going to Florida for 4 months as me not accomplishing anything and just going to be with "Mickey". aslkfjaslfasfdalk. Hopefully, I will get the point across to them without getting kicked out and they will accept the fact that I'm planning on going to Florida.

If things don't change, I'm sorry to say this but I probably won't be doing the program. Even though I want to so badly. I will probably move out and go to UNCW and hopefully do the program at a later time when I'm not under as much influence from my parents.

I just wish life was so much easier.

Roommate Survey!

Updates! There are none! Sorry to get your hopes up haha, I am still sitting around twiddling my thumbs waiting to move in, which is like a little less than 6 months from now. So February 22 was the 6 month mark until my move in. I AM SO EXCITED I CANNOT WAIT TO GO. I am kind of regretting not doing Fall Advantage now, because they only have like 80 days or so. In other news, I did the roommate survey and it is posted below in my vlog. It's quite entertaining so be sure to watch! :)

Purple Folder! :)

HELLO PEOPLE! Sorry I am one day late, but I received my purple folder yesterday on Feb 17! I came home from school and there sat the large envelope on the counter in the kitchen. Now that I have received my acceptance and purple folder, there is not really much to do until the few months before move in. BUT, I will try to update this blog as much as possible. I plan on making a chain, my bucket list, and I've been thinking of doing a blog/vlog special on my Disney stuff. If you have any suggestions, hit me up and let me know what you would like to see! Below, I attached Vlog 2 to this blog which I made yesterday when I got my folder. ENJOY!

d-fam

Alrighty so I haven't blogged in a while. I really haven't had much to blog about. I haven't received my folder yet. It has been around a week and a half since I got my email, so I have a feeling my folder shall be coming in the mail one day this week. In addition, I am in the process of making my Disney Bucket List, eventually my countdown chain, and hopefully vlogging. So there will definitely more exciting stuff in the future!
Anyways, Jess (from my d-fam) took the time to make this video of all of us college programers for Fall and FA 2011. So I just wanted to share it with any followers that aren't in my d-fam and those who eventually follow me in the future when they are on the same mission to embark on the college program.

TODAYS THE DAY! ACCEPTED!

Hello fellow followers!
Today is a magical, triumphant, monumental day. I WAS ACCEPTED INTO THE DISNEY COLLEGE PROGRAM FOR FALL 2011! I will be a merchandise cast member as of now. I am attending the Character Performer audition in Atlanta on March 20th. After 2 terrible weeks of waiting, my email arrived in my inbox at 1:46 PM. It's really odd because I was texting my best friend and was like "Kate, I'm so tired of waiting. I can't do it any longer" and she said "give it time" and immediately after she texted that to me I received an email from Disney. I was in the car with my mom and screamed haha. I then called all of my friends who are happy but also sad that I will be leaving for a whole 5 months, unless I extend my program. Here is a picture of the wonderful purple email and I will blog again once I receive my purple folder!! :)

One Week!

Noooooooooooo. I have no more 30 Day Disney Challenge days to do therefore this blog won't probably be updated but like once every few days with information about the infamous waiting game.

Alright so it has been one week since my interview. Well it will be one official week at 7:30 PM. The wait this week wasn't that bad actually. I would check my email multiple times a day but I didn't really care about what came in the mail, it's a little too early to receive a purple folder. I'm sure next week is going to be bad. Ever since I've watched past vlogs that deal with the rate of receiving a decision, I'm hoping it'll be anywhere between 1 and 2 weeks. Therefore, next week I will be checking my email many times a day in hopes of receiving an email from Disney. I don't know when the first round of acceptance letters go out, I wish I did though. Nobody from my D-Fam has received an email yet. Apparently, they are starting to do phone calls now to inform CPers? Which is really cool. I'm afraid I may miss the call, but I'm guessing they would leave a voicemail. Anywho, until next time! :)

Day 30: Something That Grabs Your Eye in the Parks

I love the Finding Nemo "statue" that is outside of The Seas with Nemo & Friends. There are always little kids up there taking pictures which makes me mad because I never get to take a picture up there!! On the program I will definitely be getting my picture :)  "Mine, mine, mine, mine, mine mine."

Wednesday, January 26, 2011

Day 29: Favorite Monorail Color

Obviously Monorail Blue! Since blue is my favorite color. Oh and there is a new monorail that is TRON-ed out! It looks really cool so I guess that it's my second favorite!

Tuesday, January 25, 2011

Day 28: Favorite Firework Show

FANTASMIC HANDS DOWN. I love that show. It is amazing. I mean technically it isn't a fireworks show, it is just a show. But all of the characters together and just the synopsis of the whole show is great. I could go and watch it every night. Oh and Maleficent at the end always gets me! Oh, P.S. I couldn't find a good picture from the Fantasmic in WDW, but here is a good one from the one in DL.

Monday, January 24, 2011

Day 27: Favorite Walt Disney World Breakfast

I've never had a Disney World breakfast. I do know that a lot of character dinings take place during the morning hours so I guess my favorite would be a character breakfast.

Sunday, January 23, 2011

Day 26: Favorite Souvenir

Obviously Mickey Ears. It's one of the most iconic souvenirs of Disney and nowadays there are a variety of ears that you can get. I really want the Alice in Wonderland Ears even though I don't think they have any available any more in the parks or online.

Saturday, January 22, 2011

Day 25: Favorite Activity Outside of the Park, But Still on Disney Property

Does Downtown Disney count? It's not a theme park, so I'm going to say that it is my favorite activity aside from the parks. I love walking through all of the shops and there are tons of opportunities to take pictures. Downtown Disney also has the "Characters in Flight" attraction which is AMAZINGLY cool, even if I haven't been on it yet. In addition, Downtown Disney contains DisneyQuest which I have never been to and the really cool restuarants Rainforest Cafe and T-Rex!

Friday, January 21, 2011

oh no.... it's the phone interview! AHHH.

So I had my phone interview today at 7:30 PM. The interviewer actually called at 7:29. Her name was Elizabeth. The interview went very well I thought. I'm sort of second guessing my answers a little bit because I feel as if they were just basic and no "pizazz!" factor. I also didn't get any situational questions, which I found was odd too! I just got the basic questions regarding work experience, my opinions on teamwork, roommates, emergency procedures, etc... My interview lasted 25 minutes and 19 seconds though so that is definitely a good time. Let's see here.. tips?! I guess I would suggest answering the questions that you can find on the discussion board. Definitely talking to your d-fam and answering each others questions helps too. I had about 6 pages of notes and I think I looked at it only once, which was the "Why do you want to work for Disney?" question. OH and my interviewer asked what attraction I would want to work at most!!! I was so excited! I figured that was a good sign. I said Jungle Cruise and if I couldn't get to work there I would want a role that I could play a part in like Haunted Mansion or TOT. Now I have to wait 3-4 weeks, but apparently it's often 2 weeks (LET'S HOPE SO!). I also like randomly decided I wanted to audition for a character performer today at around 1:00. I couldn't update my role checklist for some reason when I got home so I told my interviewer. I'm nervous about the character auditions but I think once I find out if I got into the program and what my position is then I will be fine. I can't decide if I want to do character performer or attractions though.. We shall see. I just have really good vibes. I hope everyone's interview goes well! :)

Day 24: Favorite Face Character

I don't really have a favorite face character, per se. BUT the Rapunzel and Flynn Rider are now in the parks! I love that movie, so they are probably my favorite face characters.

PHONE INTERVIEW IN 3 HOURS AND 17 MINUTES!!!

Thursday, January 20, 2011

Day 23: Scariest Ride

I don't really find any of the rides at WDW scary... but I would have to say that the scariest ride at WDW is Space Mountain... it's not really scary I just dislike it because it's in the dark. I really hated this ride but i'll definitely ride it again when I go back to Disney since it is such a classic!

OH AND PHONE INTERVIEW IS TOMORROW AT 7:30! Under 24 hours now!!!!

Wednesday, January 19, 2011

Web Interview!

Well I took the web interview today! I PASSED. My phone interview is Friday at 7:30 PM, EST. I'M SO EXCITED, as you can tell from the picture below. Anyways... the web interview isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. I'll admit, some of the questions are tricky and it doesn't feel like the interview is ever going to end... but you'll get through it! The questions asked are very straight forward.. such as "do your friends depend on you?" Just make sure you stay consistent because they basically ask 5 questions 200 different ways. I think I answered strongly to almost all of them. Like 3 I did neutral and  2 of them I did agree or disagree. DID I MENTION HOW EXCITED I AM!?

Day 22: Favorite Parade

My favorite parade is The Main Street Electrical Parade. All of the lights on all the floats is so cool and I love the song that is repeatedly played throughout the parade. In addition, this was the only parade that my family saw when we went to Disney over the summer. We tended to go to the parks at around 4:30 or 5 and a lot of the parades took place earlier in the day. The Electrical Parade was the only one that ran at like 9 and 11 pm when we were at all the parks.

Tuesday, January 18, 2011

Day 21: Favorite Character to See

My favorite character to see in the park is Eeyore! I love Eeyore. He's like my second favorite Disney character of all time. (First is the Cheshire Cat, which btw they need to have him walking around the park too!) Unfortunately, we didn't find too many characters on my family's trip to WDW over the summer so I didn't find Eeyore. But I want to this summer when my family goes again, or on the program!

Monday, January 17, 2011

Day 20: Favorite Walt Disney World Dessert

I don't really have a favorite dessert from the parks. My family usually doesn't each much in the parks because it's SO expensive. One dessert I really want to try is The Kitchen Sink from Beaches and Cream. It's huge! And looks so good. I'll definitely need multiple people to come with to try and help me eat it all.

Sunday, January 16, 2011

Day 19: Least Favorite Attraction

My least favorite attraction is Astro Orbiter. I HATE that ride with a passion. Every time I ride it I feel as if I'm going to be slung off the ride where my death awaits me on the concrete below. Maybe it's the height factor that scares me to death since you do have to take an elevator up to the ride. I really don't know. I will ride this ride, but don't expect me to go up high, I'll stay right near the ground. :)

Saturday, January 15, 2011

Day 18: Bring This Back!

I wish they would bring back Body Wars at Epcot. I love the concept of going into the human body and seeing all of the things that go on. I'm hoping to go to med school in 3 years, so this ride in my eyes is REALLY COOL. :)

Friday, January 14, 2011

Day 17: Favorite Restaurant

Definitely the Coral Reef Restaurant at Epcot. Although I have never ate at this restaurant, I REALLY want to. Just the thought of eating and turning to your left to see an abundance of fish in a coral reef is exciting! Although, this may not be true if you love oceans and ocean animals like I do haha.

Oh and btw I got two Cheshire Cat mugs today from the Disney store. THEY ARE SO COOL!

Thursday, January 13, 2011

Day 16: Favorite Snack to Grab in the Parks

I don't really have a favorite snack to grab while in the parks. Every time we go into a park we bring our own snacks and drinks in our book bags. The snacks that my family does grab are ice cream and popsicles. We go to Disney over the summer (at the end of June), so it is EXTREMELY hot down there. And to keep from passing out from heat exhaustion, at MK my family got popsicles and ice cream and ate them on the way to The Hall of Presidents. We never actually saw this show but would frequently go and sit in the lobby just to rest and get in some A/C. It is definitely a great secret that my family keeps, even though it really isn't a secret because I'm sure others do it too.

Wednesday, January 12, 2011

Day 15: Favorite Walt Disney World Resort

My favorite resort is the Polynesian Resort. I have never stayed at it, but after looking through all of the resorts last year I loved this resort. The resort is beautiful!! And some of the rooms have views of Cinderella's Castle. Oh, and the volcano pool is so cool! When my family comes to visit me during the program I am definitely putting them in this resort because we get a discount :)

Tuesday, January 11, 2011

Day 14: Favorite Animal Kingdom Attraction

I love the Dinosaur ride. It's definitely my favorite in the park. Animal Kingdom has a ton of other great rides to offer too, aka Kilimanjaro Safaris and Everest, but Dinosaur has always been my fav.

Monday, January 10, 2011

Day 13: Favorite Animal Kingdom Area

Dinoland U.S.A. I love Dinosaur and Primeval Whirl.

Sunday, January 9, 2011

Day 12: Favorite Hollywood Studios Attraction

Tower of Terror! I love this ride even though it scares me to death. I'm not a big roller coaster fan so I didn't get on Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, actually we didn't even see it when we went to HS over the summer.. but who knows, I'll probably ride it in the Fall.

Saturday, January 8, 2011

Formspring!

So I decided to hop on the band wagon with Kat and make a formspring. To the right you will see a box where you can ask me a question. You can also go to http://www.formspring.me/cbhance and ask. Ask me about anything and I'll answer!

Day 11: Favorite Hollywood Studios Area

My favorite HS area is Sunset Boulevard. I love walking down the boulevard and at the end stand the Tower of Terror hovering over the park. Sunset Blvd. also has the amphitheater, in which Fantasmic takes place which is my favorite firework show.

Friday, January 7, 2011

Day 10: Favorite Attraction in the Worlds

My favorite attraction in the World Showcase is Maelstrom. I just like the mythological aspect of the ride with the trolls and vikings. I also love at the end it looks like you about to go down a really steep rocky cliff that leads to the outside of the ride, and you end up going backwards down another slope haha.

Another Tag Game!

So I was tagged by Hillary! And unfortunately, here is my embarrassing story haha.

So let's see where do I begin. I met this girl in 8th grade named Molly Rhodes. We weren't really best friends then, we were just friends and I sat the row across from her in history. We talked often and going into high school the next year, she would be the one who helped me transition into the high school life. After "graduating" middle school, Molly and I talked often over the internet, because AIM was cool then, and we then proceeded to wait for each other in the mornings before class out in the front of the school and talk. Truth be told, I started to develop feelings for Molly and I was really digging her. The only downside was that Molly had a boyfriend. Being the clever and intelligent young man I am (not to toot my own horn), I had devised a plan to separate Molly and her boyfriend. I thought that if I did this, I would be her shoulder to cry on and we would be happily ever after. Yeah, it didn't work out this way.

The plan had been created and in full force. I had confided the whole time in my best friend and recent ex Reagan. This was definitely not a good thing to do considering Molly and Reagan were close friends and in the same Physical Science class. After splitting Molly and her boyfriend up, Reagan told Molly what happened and how I intentionally split them up in class. Molly got pissed and the following day in P.E., I could tell that Molly and I were not on good terms. I knew something was up and feared that she found out what happened. This is the opposite of what I wanted to happen. Molly told Tiffany in P.E. what had happened. Tiffany got pissed and as we were packing up to leave she proceeded to kick me in the balls as Molly told her to do so. Like, it was a HARD kick. I ended up doubling over and crying on the bleachers haha. It was embarrassing. About 5 minutes before the bell every day, EVERYONE in class would line up at the double doors, and therefore, everyone saw what happened. In the end, I called Molly that afternoon and told her everything that happened. I never told her why they happened, Molly didn't find out that I had a LONG crush on her until like 2 years ago. Molly and I are still best friends. We've known each other for 6 years. Reagan and I are as well best friends still. We definitely have had our ups and downs and not talk to one another for months at a time, but it is because we are so alike. I've known Reagan for about 6 years as well. As for Tiffany and I, we remained friends until she transferred school 2 years after that freshman year. I've learned a lifelong lesson from that event, DO NOT TRY TO SPLIT A CHICK AND HER BOYFRIEND UP! It will not end up the way you want it to.

I tag Rylan McAdam and KT McKenna!

Day 9: Favorite attraction in Futureworld

My favorite attraction in Futureworld is Test Track. I think I've said this over 200 times in my blog. I love this ride and I could ride it over and over all day. The other rides are great, but I love when the barriers open up and you see the track outside and go around 65 miles per hour. If I got placed in Epcot I would definitely want to work in Test Track.

Wednesday, January 5, 2011

Day 8: Favorite land in Epcot.

Obviously, Futureworld. Futureworld contains some of the best rides in Walt Disney World. These would be Test Track, Soarin', Mission: Space, Spaceship Earth, and of course Finding Nemo. Test Track is my favorite ride in Epcot and possibly my favorite ride in WDW period. Futureworld is the way to go but I love the different countries too in the World Showcase. Over the summer, the World Showcase was the first thing we did in WDW because we got there at around noon, rested, then went out that night. It rained so we ended up crashing in Mexico and going on The Three Caballeros, then ran to Norway to ride Maelstrom. The World Showcase is definitely important to me because it was the first thing we did after not coming to WDW for around 15 years, but Futureworld is my favorite.

Tuesday, January 4, 2011

Day 7: Favorite Attraction in Adventureland

Pirates of the Caribbean, hands down. I love that ride for many different reasons. For one, I love the fact that the queue is air conditioned. My family went to WDW over the summer and were about ready to pass out until we got in line for this ride. With that saying, there wasn't a long line at all. I also love the drop in the ride when it's dark haha and everyone isn't expecting it and screams. I just like the atmosphere of the ride and the cast members outfits and of course Pirates are great.

Monday, January 3, 2011

Day 6: Favorite Attraction in Frontierland

I've already said what my favorite attraction is in Frontierland- Splash Mountain. It's probably my favorite ride in the whole park. "zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay. my oh my what a wonderful day!"

Sunday, January 2, 2011

Day 5: Favorite Attraction in Liberty Square

HAUNTED MANSION! It's one of my favorite rides in the park. I love the stretching room before the actual ride and hearing everyone scream haha. The ride is great and I love the song that they play.

Saturday, January 1, 2011

Day 4: Favorite Attraction in Fantasyland

My favorite attraction in Fantasyland is Snow White's Scary Adventures because I love haunted houses, and this isn't scary but it's supposed to be "spooky" haha.
